Traveling by road? Be sure you have the proper Mexico car insurance.
You will need
Mexico car insurance or RV insurance while traveling in Mexico as your Canadian or U.S. policy will
not cover you.
Mexican law is
founded on the
Napoleonic
code system which, unlike our American or Canadian laws, states that
an individual is assumed guilty until proven innocent.
Although Mexican
car insurance or RV insurance is not mandatory in Mexico, if you do
get into an accident and do not have the appropriate Mexico
insurance policy, you may have to come up with a lot of cash
to get yourself out of the situation.
You will
probably not be asked for insurance papers at the border, but our
advice is to be sure to get auto insurance for Mexico BEFORE you cross the border.
Use a reputable
insurance broker, such as Mexpro, to
ensure you are getting the appropriate coverage you need.
